David and I are walking 10 miles on Saturday 14 September as part of a Weil charity event to support our dear friend - and fellow red wine aficionado - Charlie Paton (Lady Charles).

Every penny raised is going directly to Charlie's Professor's fund for Lung Cancer Research to beat this blasted thing.

On 18th October 2023, Charlie was diagnosed with Stage 4, incurable lung cancer. After approximately 4 months only of a lingering cough, a tight chest and sore ribs he was completely blindsided and his world turned upside down. With the help of the amazing Professor Popat at The Royal Marsden, a liquid biopsy identified that Charlie has an extremely rare form of non-small cell lung cancer named ALK Positive.

There is currently no cure for this type of cancer and the median life expectancy is under 7 years. At 39 and with a young family, this was, and continues to be, simply agony to hear.
