Story
I've joined Team Save, Great North Run 2024! I'll be taking on this epic challenge to give children hope for a better future.
I am running the Great North Run 2024 in memory of my beautiful friend Rebecca Miller who we sadly lost on the 6th July.
Bec was an amazing friend and colleague for 21 years. It was clear that Bec truly loved to do her best for all children. Her 4 beautiful children were always her number 1. Bec was a teacher and loved her job, working passionately to improve young people’s lives.
Bec also loved to run while her knee allowed her too. We ran a few crazy runs together including a pretty muddy and a colour run. Bec also ran a half marathon and if she could have run another, she would have. After speaking to James, I have chosen to run this half marathon for Bec, for what would have been her 50th birthday weekend. Save the Children would also have been her choice of charity.
Please help me raise as much money as possible for such a great cause, also a cause close to my heart. This is for Bec and all those children out there who need our help.
Picture here is one of our education programs in the DRC. We're working with communities to help people understand how to protect themselves from the deadly Ebola disease.
Here's why your support matters...
In over 100 countries (including the UK), Save the Children supports children to transform their lives. With global Save the Children members, their shared ambition is that by 2030;
- no child dies from preventable causes before their fifth birthday
- all children learn from a quality basic education
- violence against children is no longer tolerated.
By providing live-saving short-term help, and pushing for deep-rooted social change, Save the Children can help children take their future into their own hands.
Together, we can help children to get the future they deserve.
