Im raising money for Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) because its a a UK charity that supports mums, parents and families through postpartum psychosis – a severe, but treatable, form of mental illness that occurs after having a baby and affects 1400 new mums in the UK each year.

Shortly after having my daughter in June 2022 I became unusually poorly. Not physically like being sick but mentally and I was diagnosed quickly with this particular illness. I was luckily placed into a mother and baby unit in Chelmsford and I got better.

I spent 29 days in there. Hence my total that I want to raise 29 days x 24 hours.

I also was visited by my husband who would travel 17 miles from home to the unit to see me. Its not a lot to some people but as new parents to ne separated like that is going to feel like 1000 miles more then it is.

So I'm going to swim 17 miles in lengths throughout May to raise money for this charity.

I'm also wanting to do as many mother and baby walks as I can so I'm hoping all of my mum friends will support me in this!
