Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to honour Vic’s memory.
We are truly touched with the outpouring of love we have received since breaking the devastating news of Vic’s passing. Whilst her family was supporting her in her short battle with cancer, her passing was sudden and has left a huge hole in our lives. We have received so many lovely messages of support, and this brings us great comfort in this heartbreaking time. We only wish that Vic knew how truly remarkable and loved she was.
Vic was known for raising money for various different charities in our community, so it feels fitting to do it in her honour. We have created this fundraiser for three different causes, so please ensure you have selected the correct link for where you would like your donation to go.
These three causes include:
Yes To Life - Which provides information to guide people with cancer through the confusing options for care. With their holistic approach, Yes to Life emphasises the importance of the mental, emotional, and spiritual state of those with cancer.
A Memorial - We would love to create a lasting memorial for Vic, a tribute that truly honours her contributions to our community. This memorial will not only be a testament to her legacy but also something that we will be able to show the children for years to come. We are currently brainstorming ideas to make this tribute as special as she was.
**Any donations left over from the memorial will be split toward the two mentioned charities.**
EGFR Positive UK - which is a patient-driven charity committed to providing information and support for EGFR-mutated lung cancer patients and their families.
Thank you all for your messages of love and thank you again, Hitchin, for your continued support. It’s been hugely felt by her family and all at The Victoria.
Much love Team Vic x
EGFR POSITIVE UK - EGFR Positive UK is a patient-driven charity committed to providing information and support for EGFR-mutated lung cancer patients and their families. We are also dedicated to supporting research and advocacy to change EGFR positive lung cancer into a chronic disease that can be managed long-term. We work to raise awareness of EGFR positive lung cancer and end the stigma associated with lung cancer in general. We know that anyone with lungs can get lung cancer – young or old, smoker or never-smoker. It is predominantly found in female non-smokers and has many mutations.
Yes To Life - We provide information to guide people with cancer through the confusing options for care. Our aim is to help them make informed decisions. With our holistic approach, Yes to Life emphasises the importance of the mental, emotional and spiritual state of those with cancer. Along with physical needs, we feel these should be considered as central to any treatment programme. Rooted in almost 20 years of experience working with people with cancer, we know it is vital that everyone seeking options should be empowered to make their own health decisions. We also believe in the benefits of a positive approach. Of course, a cancer diagnosis is frightening, but instead of talking about ‘victims’ and ‘battling with disease’, we feel that forward-looking optimism is crucial. We have seen the realistic hope that results from gaining access to information, and from being empowered to explore your individual needs and make your own choices to manage your condition, as you see fit.
