Story

Join us in supporting a cause that is close to our hearts—the Memory Walk, an event dedicated to raising funds for dementia research and support services. The memory walk is an opportunity for us to come together as a community to raise awareness and funds for vital research and support services. Your contribution will help improve the lives of those affected by dementia, providing them with access to essential resources and support.

I have cared for people with dementia for over 40 years and have met some amazing individuals, each with their own unique stories. It is the most rewarding job I could have wished for.

Currently, I am supporting my neighbour who I have known for over 30 years, and who has a diagnosis of dementia.

A young member of our community, aged 13, and her family, also play a crucial role in caring for our neighbour every day. They support with daily tasks, like helping with meals or organising activities and sitting chatting in the garden . But most importantly just being there for reassurance and guidance.

We will be holding this event on the 21st of September 2024, World Alzheimer's Day.

The walk will start from the Memorial Gardens in Hebden Centre at 14.00hrs, onto the canal to Walsden Cricket & Bowling Club for a swift half or two 😉

Thank you for your support; it is very much appreciated.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
