Story
For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to Falmouth RNLI. I've chosen this charity because their mission means a lot to me, personally because they heroically rescued me at Weir on a drizzly Christmas Day 2023, but also in memory of my late Granny Mutt Burnford who consistently supported them throughout her beautiful life (I now understand why more than I ever did). I hope that you'll consider contributing as a way of celebrating them and remembering with me. Every little bit will help me reach my goal.
The RNLI is a registered charity that saves lives at sea. It provides, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service to 100 miles out from the coast of the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland and a beach lifeguard service on over 200 beaches in England. The RNLI continues to rely on voluntary contributions and legacies for its income.
Falmouth’s lifeboat station was established in 1867 and has served the community for over 155 years.
The volunteer lifeboat crew provide a 24-hour search and rescue service 365 days a year, but none of this would be possible without the support of the public and their donations. It costs in the region of £250k a year to run and maintain the service in Falmouth, all of which comes from the generous donations of the public.
Your donation will help to fund the selfless work of our volunteer lifeboat crew in Falmouth, by doing so you will be helping to save lives around our coast and will be providing the best equipment possible to ensure the safety of our volunteers.
