My Story:
In January 2026, I’ll be cycling 1000 miles coast-to-coast across South America to raise money for a cause that is close to my heart - CALM, the suicide prevention charity.
However you lose someone you love, it’s hard. Losing someone from suicide carries extra weight. Should I have done more? Did I miss the signs? What could have been?
This page’s cover photo is me and my dad on a smiley day out in September 2015. One week later, he had ended it all. Dad was the kindest person, someone who would do anything for those he loved. His last words on the note that he left behind were that he loved his family and that he was very sorry. No-one knew he was struggling with his mental health: if he had got help, then things could have been very different.
I’ve thought & thought about something to do in dad’s memory. I’m not sure whether he ever would have sought help … but someone else will and this is why I want to raise money for CALM.
Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is a suicide prevention charity. They’ve got loads of tools and resources to help people find the support they need, including a life-saving helpline for people who can’t see a way forward, have lost someone to suicide, or are worried about their friends or loved ones.
£12.20 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.
All of the money raised will go directly to the charity (the trip is self funded).
Thanks for reading my story x

By entering the prize draw you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the prize draw.
The prize will be 3 nights of pet sitting in the owner's home. Dates are subject to availability. For new customers, the prize is also subject to a successful meet and greet (I haven't yet turned down a pet sit, but if we are not a good match for whatever reason, I will substitute the prize with a £50 gift voucher).
The pet sit must be within 30 minutes drive of Aldershot.
The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative will be offered.
The winner will be drawn at random on January 1st. Last entries accepted on 31st December. The winner will be contacted by email.
There will be an announcement of the winner's name on this Just Giving page and the Pet Care by Nicky facebook page.
