Story
Nicki Jackson (McDermott) sadly passed away on Sunday 15th December 2024, following a brave 28 month battle against Leukaemia (AML).
Nicki received world class care at UCLH in London, but alongside the NHS services, she received a huge amount of support from 3 charities that she desperately wanted to raise money for as soon as she was back to full health.
Sadly, she never got that chance, so we are now looking to raise at least £1,500 in her memory for each of the 3 charities that she wanted to support. As well as helping Nicki, they provide support to millions of cancer patients and their families all across the UK.
I witnessed first hand how much these charities helped Nicki (and myself), and how small touches like free massage and reflexology treatments, or a snack trolley that gave her an afternoon Jaffa Cake treat, made a huge difference to her mental wellbeing during those tough times. And that is without mentioning the free counselling services, huge library of information and guidance, the army of volunteers, and the additional medical equipment and training that these charities help to provide.
I know how much Nicki would have appreciated ANY amount that you’re able to kindly donate to these charities, and I thank you in advance on her behalf. I know that this will make her very happy, and it is the least that we can do for her given the amount of happiness that she spread into our lives.
This page is to raise money for Haematology Cancer Care. Nicki received all of her treatment in the Grafton Way building at UCLH, and HCC raise money to provide support services to those patients (such as the complementary therapy that helped Nicki enormously), as well as providing education and training for nurses, and providing medical equipment for use on the wards.
