5 years ago I watched my best friends family change forever, with their mum Sandra sadly being diagnosed with vascular dementia. Sandra was so young, at only 67 when diagnosed. She has been such a huge part of my life since I was 11, and to watch her mind fade away has been heartbreaking, but the effect this has on all the whole family has been horrendous. Dementia is physically effecting Sandra, but Dementia affects all her loved ones surrounding her. The worst part of this terrible disease is now Sandra doesn’t even recognise her 3 children and her grandchildren. This should be her retirement now, a time to enjoy all her hard work and her beautiful family. Dementia has taken that all away from them all.

I haven’t ran any distances now for over 10 years but I’ve decided to run the London landmarks half marathon to raise money for Dementia UK to help research and families who are suffering with Dementia.

Please help me to raise money for the vital research of this heartbreaking disease, to find a way to slow down or even prevent this cruel disease from taking away peoples memories, and their loved ones away from families.

Every pound raised makes a difference to finding a cure and raising people’s awareness.
