We provide free expert care and support to people affected by life-limiting illness

Story

I'm taking on the challenge of Trekking Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free standing mountain in the world at 5895 metres. It's an 11 day trek starting on the 25 January 2024.

Why am I doing this ? It something that I have been considering for some time but when I saw that Willen Hospice were putting together a group I thought I just had to join.

I have recently had first hand experience of the tremendous care and support that Willen Hospice provide. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law, Diane Sims, was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year and spent over 7 weeks in the care of the hospice. This is my way of remembering her and hopefully raising some money to help support the valuable work that they do.

Willen Hospice provides specialist, compassionate care for families affected by life-limiting illness. Not only do they provide care for their patients they do this in a loving and caring way and provide support for the family.

Every pound raised makes a difference - as it enables them to do more for more people across the Milton Keynes area. They receive less than a quarter of their funding from the NHS which means the rest needs to be raised through donations or fundraising. This year they need to raise £5.9m, or £11 a minute.

I hope that in some way, my efforts can help raise some funds to help them continue the amazing work that they do. Thank you for any support you can give.
