Walking 1000 Miles

Cancer patients often feel socially isolated as friends drift away unsure of what to say. Letters are a wonderful way to keep people connected at a time when they feel most disconnected. Our events help people to find the courage to write, either to friends or for our Donate A Letter campaign.

Story

My plan is to walk a 1000 miles this year in support of this wonderful charity From Me to You which encourages people to write letters to friends suffering with cancer - keeping them connected at a time when they feel most disconnected.

My friend Sue was diagnosed with terminal cancer this year and I have decided to do something to help people coping with the isolation and despair a cancer diagnosis can bring. Receiving a letter through the post can feel like a hand reaching out, a lifeline offering comfort and connection in difficult moments.

The founders of FMTY, Alison and Brian, have published a book of Alison's letters and Brian's journal entries during his cancer treatment. They are a poignant record of a difficult time in Brian's life and demonstrate the comfort a letter can give.

I would like to donate at least 250 copies of 'From Me To You' to cancer patients this year.

Every £6 donated purchases a book.

Thanks for your donation - it is much appreciated.
