Story
Many of you will know that my wife, Emma, passed away during 2022 following a battle with Pancreatic cancer. This illness is incredibly debilitating and causes significant pain, pain that became unmanageable towards the end.
Over the last few months of Emma's life she was supported by Hospiscare, and spent her last weeks at Hospiscare in Exeter. Those weeks were weeks spent with the pain under control, in comfort, and surrounded by people who cared. It gave Emma more time with her loved ones, and gave us more time with Emma as she would have wanted to be remembered. None of that would have been possible without Hospiscare.
Hospiscare is not a service provided by the NHS or the Government. Only 15% of costs are met by the Government with the rest raised through charitable donations. Without those donations Emma would have had to endure excruciating pain during her final weeks. Anything you can do to help further people to access the service that Hospiscare provides would be amazingly welcome.
To help with this I have decided to jump out of a plane. Not a terribly sensible idea when you suffer vertigo... But an important cause!
Following Emma's death I was fortunate enough to be appointed as a Trustee of Hospiscare. If you live in Exeter, Mid or East Devon, Hospiscare is your local adult hospice charity. Should you or a loved one need care for any type of terminal illness, our professional team of doctors and nurses are here to help. Our services are provided irrespective of race, religion, age, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, diagnosis or place of national origin.
If you feel able to support me in my sky diving endeavour it would be greatly appreciated. It is a very worthwhile cause and would help Hospiscare continue to care for people like Emma.
