Story
Every day one Nova Scotian dies from a disease that is 90% preventable.
That disease is colorectal cancer.
Get Up There (GUT) raises funds and awareness to support colorectal cancer screening and prevention. Funds raised through GUT helped the Dartmouth General Hospital purchase state-of-the-art equipment and technology used to screen for colorectal cancer and to open a 3rd Endoscopy Suite which is used exclusively for screening FIT-positive patients. The wait list for FIT-positive screening has been eliminated thanks to this new Suite.
Funds raised through GUT 2024 will help raise awareness of the FIT test and get more people to engage in the screening program.
I have been on my own cancer journey since 2016. I've learned many things during my experience of diagnosis, treatment and recovery - one of which is that if you should be proactive in identifying and treating cancer and deny it the chance to take your life.
So please support me and this incredible campaign so we can get more Nova Scotians screened and treated for colorectal cancer.
Many thanks
Nic
