Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike 2024 - full marathon · 14 September 2024 ·
On 14th September 2024 we shall be walking from Alnwick Castle to Bamburgh Castle on a Macmillan Mighty Hike! Macmillan Cancer Support arrange hikes (either full or half marathon distance) throughout the country and throughout the year to raise funds for their very important work. Our hike is the full marathon distance – 26.2 miles, and we’re assured that it is ‘mainly flat’! (Though we did notice that ‘the total elevation gain of this Mighty Hike is 994 feet’). Living in the beautiful county of Northumberland we have walked some of this route in the past, but never all of it in one day! The idea came from Ruth…
I shall be 70 on 14th September 2024! While I was considering how to mark this occasion an email arrived jointly from Parkrun & Macmillan inviting me to sign up for a Mighty Hike. What a perfect way to celebrate my 70th - enjoying beautiful scenery in excellent company and raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. I’m absolutely delighted that my sister, sister-in-law and 4 nieces will be hiking with me. Did you know that the collective noun for nieces (and nephews) is NIBLINGS? That is why our team name is NIBLING NAVIGATORS.
Nibling Navigators are aware of the vital work that Macmillan do. Very close family members have had or are living with cancer; Macmillan is there to support folk at the point of need. Please help us to help Macmillan by sponsoring us on our Mighty Hike. We’re very grateful for any donations.
With thanks and best wishes, Ruth Barriskill; Jo Clarke; Sarah Connelly; Grace Dodds; Rachel Dodds; Isabel Fulton and Alison Dodds – THE NIBLING NAVIGATORS.
