Story
In 2021 Nia and Sophie’s mothers were diagnosed with breast cancer within a week of each other, after being best friends for 40+ years and raising their families together.
Inspired by the bravery of her Mum and Aunty, Nia signed up to trek 100km in 5 days to raise money for coppafeel in June of last year, raising £3,180.
Sadly in 2023, Deb’s cancer returned and on the 18th September 2023, Sophie’s beloved Mum lost her courageous battle with this cruel disease.
When the allumni Trek was announced we decided that this was a challenge we had to take on together, so this May in Deb’s memory, Nia and Soph are trekking a marathon across the Yorkshire dales to once again raise some money for Coppafeel and spread awareness!
CoppaFeel! are the first UK breast cancer charity to create awareness amongst young people, with the aim to instil a new healthy behaviour that could one day save a life. They are on a mission to ensure breast cancer is diagnosed early and correctly by getting the nation to check their boobs/chest regularly. They want to educate people on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, encourage them to get to know what is normal for them and empower young people to have the confidence to see a doctor if they notice anything that isn't right for them.
