Story
As you may know, someone very close to me suffered a serious life-changing injury many years ago resulting in tetraplegia. I am humbled to have an opportunity to raise money to support Spinal Research, and am fortunate enough to be able to.
With a milestone birthday in 2024 (urgh) I wanted to do something memorable, special and meaningful. Whilst I'd never claim to be 'a runner' (and nowhere near the elite athletes on Team MTC JOGLE 24 and 25) I will be attempting to run from John O'Groats to Lands End, an adventure that fills me with both fear and excitement! Following the 17 day ultra-marathon, I'm going to attempt a range of events over the coming year, rolling everything into one 'ultra' fundraising event!
If you're not aware of Spinal Research's great work: Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. Every year 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord.
They receive no government funding and rely entirely on the support of the public to raise funds for our research. Because of the efforts of their supporters, they have funded innovative medical research that has achieved a number of ground breaking changes in the field.
So instead of buying that final shot (you know you'll regret tomorrow) why not throw a few quid here - or whatever you can afford and make a difference to the lives of so many deserving people.
Thank you so much for your support, it truly does make a difference.
