Gallery 2 Gallery - cycling from London to York, 24 April 2024
We raise funds for The National Hospital to improve the lives of neurology patients

Story

I will be cycling the ~330km from the National Gallery in London to York Art Gallery over 3 days at the end of April in support of the National Brain Appeal.

Many of you may know me as someone who's been enjoying cycling as a regular part of my life for many years now and, while in the past I might have looked forward to a ride like this one, the past few months have been pretty inactive due to weather, work and life in general, meaning it's sure looking like a challenge for 2024 me!

The Gallery2Gallery ride has been organised to bring together members of different teams working towards the National Gallery's bicentenary projects and will see us cycle from the National Gallery to York Art Gallery, one of the partners of our National Treasures initiative, leaving London on Wednesday April 24th and arriving in York on Friday 26th.

The National Brain Appeal provides much-needed funds to support The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery and the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology – together known as Queen Square. This is one of the world’s leading centres for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with neurological and neuromuscular conditions. These include stroke, multiple sclerosis, brain cancer, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and dementia.

Most of us will unfortunately be familiar with some of those conditions - I know I am, having had members of my family and close friends affected throughout time. Every penny you may be able to spare will go to a great cause!

About the charity

There are 14.7million people – that’s more than one in six – in the UK living with a neurological condition. Here at the country's leading neurological centre, we’re passionate about supporting the hospital to help improve the lives of patients through treatment and research.
