Story
Cassie is an amazing young lady who joined our U12s Netball club in 2022.. In 2020 when she was just 10 years old she was diagnosed with Leukaemia. It was the beginning of a very long and frightening journey as Cassie endured over two years of gruelling chemotherapy. But Cassie is a fighter and her strength, courage and resilience shone through even in the darkest times. In September 2022 just nine weeks away from the end of her journey, Cassie suffered a relapse and needed a Bone Marrow transplant. After two months of searching a donor was found and in January 2023, Cassie had her life saving bone marrow transplant. Cassie has now returned to the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital in Cardiff. It has been an unimaginable journey for Cassie and her family but her strength, determination and smile have inspired all who know her. As Cassie says " When life throws you a lemon, make lemonade."
Lou and I have had the privilege of meeting Cassie. A young lady who just wants to play netball like any other little girl. When we shared our idea of a 12 hour netball match it sounded crazy but 12 hours of netball is nothing compared to what this young lady and her family have been through.
Cassie has chosen the Holibobs charity. Its is a charity that supports Children with Cancer or Leukaemia. When a child is diagnosed with Cancer a family's world is turned upside down. It is frightening as the once healthy child is replaced by a very sick child & normal family life is replaced by endless days in hospital. Time away becomes crucial however families often struggle financially & are not in the position to fund breaks away. This is where Holibobs can help by making a child's holiday wish come true and by providing families with precious time away together.
If you can give please do and help us turn those lemons into lemonade.
