Story
Hi all. I have been given the challenge to Row 200km down the Thames, ‘Reading to Leigh-on-Sea’.
I will be rowing ‘Witchoar’, a Claydon Skiff with 3 other rowers and a cox. The challenge requires strong teamwork as we'll navigate through a bustling urban environment, which includes 20 locks, heavy boat traffic, bridges and potentially challenging weather conditions. Maintaining focus and ensuring safety will be paramount as we manoeuvre the skiff through the cityscape.
As many of you know, I serve as Group Director of Repairs & Maintenance for Peabody, and this leads me to reflect on how the Peabody Core Values will be essential to guide our team:
Be kind 🤝 as we are stuck with each other for 5 days.
Love new ideas 🤔🤓 that’s why we are doing this crazy thing!
Keep our promises ✅💯 by training and keeping ourselves in shape and actually turning up, to do the right thing!
The core value that’s most applicable for this event is to ensure we pull together 💪🙌 We have a mixed ethnicity, gender and age team, so we hope to be celebrating diversity through to the finish line.
In memory of the Peabody Chairman Lord Bob Kerslake, we will be raising money for St. Mungo's which I understand was close to Bob’s heart. We are self funding the event so all monies raised will go direct to the charity.
Thank you all for any generous support you can offer. Let's join together and live our values in memory of Bob and his tremendous career of service.
