Story
Sanj, Mum & I are taking part in Sue Ryder Starlight Hike Bedford.
Sadly we said goodbye to my Grandad, Valentine Ward, on 31 July.
Grandad was always our biggest and proudest fan, best dad-joke teller & most positive soul we’ve ever known.
We are taking part in this hike to raise awareness and support for the amazing Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice - who provided outstanding and exceptional care for Grandad in the most difficult time of our lives.
We felt Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice went above and beyond in their efforts to look after Grandad, and provide him with the best end of life care we could have imagined.
Sadly, almost all of us will experience the loss of a loved one - your support can help more people get the end-of-life and bereavement care they need and deserve.
Sue Ryders specialist teams provide expert and compassionate care, which means the end of peoples lives can be filled with friendship, family and love in their final moments together.
How your donations help:
- £20 could pay for a patient’s meals for the day in one of our hospices.
- £25 could help fund an hour of expert care and help fill another family’s final days with love.
- £42 could go towards grief counselling sessions for people coming to terms with the loss of a loved one.
- £60 could provide one complementary therapy session, such as massage, aromatherapy and reiki; these help improve feelings of well-being and alleviate symptoms such as anxiety, breathlessness, pain and feeling sick.
- £63 could go towards training a nurse to provide end-of-life care.
- £145 could help pay for a Sue Ryder Nurse, providing expert, compassionate care for a day.
- £600 could help fund another 24 hours of expert care so that someone can spend their final days in familiar surroundings, with treasured memories and their family.
Any amount, will truly help to support this amazing charity.
Thank you,
Natisha, Sanj & Mariessa
