Story
Firstly, thank you very much for taking the time to read my just giving page!
The reason I have decided to take on this challenge is to raise money for LOROS. A charity very close to my heart. This is in memory of my wonderful Dad, who we all miss very much.
Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer back in October 2019 and sadly passed away 7 weeks later in December. During his final weeks he was sent to LOROS hospice which was the best thing that could have happened. LOROS made him feel as comfortable as possible, and also supported our family during this devastating time.
So what does this involve?
My cousin Jodie is also taking on this challenge with me! This adventure will take us to the Sierra Nevada National Park, where we’ll trek to the summits of three of Spain’s highest peaks, Alcazaba, Veleta, and Mulhacén – the highest peak in mainland Spain!
Alcazaba is first on our list and the toughest of the three, with a steep climb to the summit plateau at 3,371m after a trek through the lush green valley of Siete Lagunas. Next up is Veleta, with a rough and rocky path to the summit at 3,394m. The final peak is Mulhacén, mainland Spain’s highest at 3,482m, offering unbeatable views of the Sierra Nevada mountain range from the summit!
Crossing the Sierra Nevada is going to be a tough challenge, but the view across Spain’s mainland from its highest peaks will provide all the motivation we need!
Please dig deep and support my fundraising efforts to help care for terminally patients and their families in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
