Story

Welcome to my JustGiving page!

I'm Natalie, and together with my team, we're on a mission to combat meningitis worldwide. We're proud members of the University of Plymouth's team scaling Kilimanjaro with Choose a Challenge in 2024.

Why are we doing this?

As we prepare for our journey, we're raising funds for a crucial cause: Did you know meningitis and septicaemia can be fatal within hours?

Bacterial meningitis is especially concerning. Approximately 1 in 10 people affected by this type of meningitis do not survive, and 1 in 5 suffer severe complications (World Health Organization (WHO)).

In the UK alone, around 245,000 cases of sepsis occur each year (UK Sepsis Trust).

Meningitis is a devastating disease that affects people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. Even survivors often face ongoing health challenges. But together, we can aim to eradicate it by 2030.

So, how can you help?

Our goal is to raise £4,650 GBP, and every donation, no matter the size, counts towards achieving this target. Together, let's make a difference for our communities!

How will your donation help?

By contributing to our cause, you'll support the World Health Organization (WHO) and global experts in the fight against meningitis. The WHO's roadmap aims for a world free of meningitis, with goals including:

1. Eliminating bacterial meningitis epidemics.

2. Halving cases of vaccine-preventable bacterial meningitis and reducing related deaths by 70%.

3. Enhancing quality of life post-meningitis for survivors.

Join us in making a positive impact on global health. Together, let's #PayItForward.

Thank you for your support and interest!

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
