Story
I work at Matthew's House and see first hand the impact homelessness has on those in our city. At Matthew's House we do everything we can to provide warm food, showers, laundry, and so much more for our guests. We can't do this without the fundraising attempts and kind donations of the public. Last year I completed the sleep out and really underestimated how tough it would be in the winter weather!
Last year I raised £420, this year I am aiming to hit £500. Please help me!
Homelessness and rough sleeping are still problems for people in Swansea. The causes are complicated, and the solutions are equally complex. This event will highlight the issues and put a focus on two charities working together to help. It will raise much needed funds and give wonderful volunteer fundraisers a tiny taste of sleeping out in the cold of Autumn. We know this doesn’t compare with the uncertainty and hardship of actual homelessness, but it does help focus the mind, and offers a chance to make a difference by raising funds.
As Thom from Matthews House said, "working together with friends and partners is always better for everyone". So let's work on this together and help 'bring hope to people in need'.
This year we will be sleeping within the bowl of the stadium overlooking the pitch with access to the concourse in case we have a repeat of last's year's weather.
