Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I lost my cousin David at the age of 42 and David’s work, Shoosmiths, got in touch with David’s sister to say that their chosen charity this year was SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) and as a way to raise money for SAMH, Shoosmiths was going to do the Edinburgh Kilt walk and that they would be honoured if David’s sister and any other family members wished to join them.

So that is how I got involved in doing the Edinburgh Kilt walk on 15 September 2024. At first David’s sister and I decided we would do the 11 miles but after some thinking we thought why not do the 21 miles, the Mighty stride, as they say go big or go home. So, we will be walking 21 miles on 15 September 2024 in memory of my cousin David.

David was the life and soul of the party, and I still cannot believe he is no longer with us; however, David’s memory lives on in his family and friends. It also goes to show that you never know what someone is going through.

In recent years Mental Health is being talked about more, but as a Mental Health First Aider I know that there is more that can be done and that is why I will be proud to raise money for SAMH by doing the Edinburgh Kilt walk.

I have not set a target but do need to raise £50 for SAMH, so any donation you are able to make no matter how small would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
