Story
Thank you for visiting my page. I've chosen to run the 2024 Great North Run for my mum who would have turned 65 on 30th July and for Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments.
Happy, fun, supportive, caring, kind and loving - mum was everything to us all! We also liked to do runs together. We were never very good but it was something we enjoyed. I’d always mentioned doing the Great North Run together but we never managed it. Unfortunately, Sarcoma cancer had other plans for my amazing mum who battled so bravely.
Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. Mum even had her leg amputated so that she could try and stay with us for as long as she could - she was incredible! It’s often very difficult to look back and think of all the things mum went through in quite a short space of time but I would like to do my little bit to help. Also, my husband Nick is running the NYC Marathon to raise vital funds too. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep the specialist Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care. Most of all, it will help families like mine when they need it the most.
Your donations go so far in helping the sarcoma community:
£1 could cover the cost of 10 texts to the support line.
£10 could be used to buy microscope slides to look at cells in minute detail.
£30 could fund one hour of use of a high-powered laboratory microscope.
£150 could fund the support line for a week.
Thank you for your support and Happy Birthday mum 🥳
