Like countless others, cancer has indirectly touched my life, affecting several family members and friends who have battled or are currently battling this relentless disease. After one of my close family friend was diagnosed with cancer, I decided to take it upon myself to run my first ever marathon in support of my friend as she battles the dreadful disease. In doing so, I am not only running for her but also for the countless others affected by cancer. I will be raising both money and awareness for Cancer Research UK, contributing to the collective effort to develop new treatments and improve outcomes for those affected by the disease.

As a child, I was very active and enjoyed lots of swimming and running (as you can see in my profile picture), but this passion fizzled out over my teen years when my mental health took a toll. I got back into running less than two years ago initially for my personal health, but running has since evolved into a profound passion. It has not only helped me enhance my physical well-being but has also become a cornerstone for building confidence, nurturing my mental health and embracing a healthier lifestyle. These transformative aspects of running echo the sentiments of my friend, who despite her ongoing battle with cancer, remains a dedicated advocate for mental health and self-care. This marathon, therefore, is not only a pursuit of personal achievement and support of my friend, but also an opportunity to raise money for charity.
