Story
This is my 4th and Isla’s 1st 10k twilight walk as part of the amazing “Team Keys” in memory of my friend Ryan, husband to my dear friend Gemma and dad to their two boys, Ethan and Reuben.
Your brain is the most extraordinary part of your body. It's responsible for your ability to move and to communicate. It controls your emotions and stores your memories. It's the part of you that makes you who you are.
Did you know that Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40? Over 12,000 people are diagnosed each year with a primary brain tumour – that’s 33 people every day. The impact of a brain tumour can be devastating. Brain tumours reduce life expectancy by on average 27 years – the highest of any cancer; just 12% of adults survive for five years after diagnosis. Research offers the only real hope of dramatic improvements in the management and treatment of brain tumours. Over £700m is spent on cancer research in the UK every year, yet less than 3% is spent on brain tumours
In memory of Ryan, and everyone else living with and fighting their brain tumours, Isla and I would be so very grateful for any amount - big or small - you are able to sponsor us. All of your money will go straight to the Brain Tumour Charity, who are at the forefront of the fight to defeat brain tumours.
The Brain Tumour Charity is the world's leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, we're moving further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour.
We're set on finding new treatments, offering the highest level of support and driving urgent change. And we're doing it right now. Because we understand that when you, or someone you love, is diagnosed with a brain tumour a cure really can't wait.
