This year, I will be completing a minimum of 6 sporting events to fundraise for The Christie Hospital in Manchester. My father-in-law was recently diagnosed with cancer and referred to The Christie.

Each year, around 392,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer. On average someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer at least every 90 seconds. Each year, around 167,000 people die from cancer in the UK, an average of 460 people everyday.

The Christie is the largest single site cancer centre in Europe and the first UK centre to be accredited as a comprehensive cancer centre. They treat more than 60,000 patients a year.

Having seen all the hard work The Christie does first hand, I would really like to give back in anyway I can. The staff and volunteers have been amazing and ensure each visit is as comfortable as can be.

Below is a list of events I have committed to this year to help raise much needed funds:

26th May - Half Marathon (Manchester)

8th September - Great North Run (Newcastle)

21st September - Skydive (Lancaster)

13th October - Half Marathon (Manchester)

10th November - Half Marathon (Tatton)

14th December - 10K Run (Tatton)
