On April 7th, I'll be taking part in my first ever full marathon in Brighton. I've been running for just over 3 years having started Couch to 5k during the Covid lockdown, completing the Reading Half 12 months later. Since then I've competed another 8 halfs, bringing my PB to sub-1.30, bought my 10k PB down to just above 40 minutes and my 5k to just above 19 minutes with the support of my amazing club Finch Coasters, and now the time is right to tackle my first full half
Over the past 7-8 years especially I've suffered massively with my mental health, including, without wanting to go into too much detail, some very recent difficulties. Running has helped me massively during the past 3 years, has helped me achieve some incredible goals that I didn't believe I would, and be involved with an amazing supportive and inspirational community, which has inspired me to finally take the plunge and conquer the full marathon distance
I'm raising money for Mind because its important that everyone has access to mental health support whenever they need it, and to acknowledge all the work they have done to promote mental health awareness during recent times, especially since the lockdowns
