The Cardiac Rehab Team based at Macclesfield District General Hospital rehab patients who have had heart attacks, heart surgery or procedures and those who live with the long term condition of heart failure. We begin a patient's rehab journey whilst they are still in hospital, if they have had a heart attack. After discharge the team follow up all patients, either through home based visits, leisure centre programmes or supported individual progression. We help patients to make all of the lifestyle choices that help rebuild their health and wellbeing and promote gentle exercise to keep hearts healthy!

Each year the Cardiac Rehab staff walk with patients past and present (and their relatives and friends) along a six mile route on the Middlewood Way. This sponsored walk was started in 1992 by a patient who had set himself a goal to raise some money as a thank you to the cardiac rehab staff who had treated him. We have carried on his work and although we had to suspend the walk during the Covid pandemic we have walked every May since then.

Our wonderful patients have raised money for our team that has funded life saving equipment, rehabilitation aids and additional specialist staff training that we would not have been able to provide without the generous donations from our annual walk.

Donations to the team will help keep us able to provide a bit extra for our patients.
