Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024 · 13 October 2024 ·

The Royal Parks is THE eco-friendly marathon. For the last 85 years, Diabetes UK has been at the forefront of diabetes research. We've discovered how to put type 2 diabetes into remission. And were working day in, day out to find a cure.

Story

Hi,

Welcome to my just giving page, I'm going to be taking on my first half marathon at the Royal Parks half on October 13th, then a week later on October 20th I'll take on another in Palermo Sicily.

I'm doing this in aid of Diabetes UK. My dad was diagnosed type 1 diabetes (Mellitus) in his late 20s, whilst playing professional Rugby. And a few weeks ago, at a similar age, I too developed type 1. There isn't a cure for type 1 diabetes yet, so we'll live with the condition till the end of our days.

So it's safe to say this is a charity very close to mine and my families heart. Along with me and dad, as many as 4.8 million people are living with diabetes in the UK right now.

Whilst it'll take me type to adapt to this new lifestyle I thought a series of challenged and a fundraiser would be a good start, so please donate!

I appreciate all and any donations, even if its the price of a pint (£6.50 in the Regent, Balham)

I'll be sure to give both half marathons hell!

Cheers,

Myles
