First, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported me last year with your generous donations. Your contributions kept me going during those 14 hours and 40 minutes, and knowing that the funds being raised were making a real difference was a huge motivator.
Incredibly—or perhaps stupidly—I’ve decided to take on an even bigger challenge this year. I’ll be running an ultra marathon, covering an incredible 100km (62 miles) in Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam—where the rainforest’s beauty and tough terrain will push me to my limits. This race will take place on Sunday, April 6th, 2025.
To prepare, I’ll be tackling some marathons and ultras throughout March. I’ll be running them solo on Sundays, and you’re welcome to join me virtually on Strava if you’d like to follow my progress.
Once again, I’m doing this ultra marathon in memory of my cousin, Mike Hall, who tragically passed away in 2017 during an ultra-cycling race in Australia. Mike’s spirit and advice stayed with me throughout my last race, especially when he said: “It might be suffering or it might just be a different experience, and life’s richer for different experiences.” His words have been a massive source of inspiration, and I’m proud to continue his legacy of raising awareness and funds. Mike raised thousands of pounds for Newborns Vietnam after cycling across the country twice, and I hope to do my part to honor his memory.
Newborns Vietnam (NBV) is a United Kingdom registered charity licensed to operate as a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Vietnam. They are dedicated to reducing neonatal mortality in Southeast Asia, with a specific focus on Vietnam.
