Murray's fundraiser for MELVILLE-KNOX CHRISTIAN SCHOOL GLASGOW

Murray Mackay is raising money for MELVILLE-KNOX CHRISTIAN SCHOOL GLASGOW

Head shave (including beard!)

Melville-Knox Christian School Glasgow is an independent primary school that aims to offer an excellent, Biblically-based education that encompasses all the recommended curriculum areas. The Vision and the Constitution of the School are based on a collection of Reformed confessions. We, as a School, are committed to creating a safe and friendly learning environment where each child will be valued and challenged according to their abilities and skills. We are bound, by our own standards, to the highest degree of integrity and transparency. We are a not for profit organisation and so aim to offer affordable school fees for normal working families. Our school was founded by parents for parents, and so we welcome parental involvement. We view education and schooling as a partnership with parents. We are committed to helping home-schooling families in their efforts to educate their children in Christian values. We seek to accomplish this by offering various part-time options for home-schooling families. Above all, we aim to glorify God and serve Him in all our endeavours.

Story

After a significant period of preparation, intense training and notable growth, the time has now arrived for the major event.

Some undertake lengthy runs and arduous hikes… I am going to… shave my head (beard included!)

Yes, in a matter of weeks I intend to take a “number 4” all over… if the funds raised are significant I will go shorter… if we reach £1,500 I will take it to a “3” and if it reaches £2,000 I will go down to a “2”!

I think it will be a scary enough sight at that level, so do not want to put off donations by taking it to the skull!

The last time I did this, must have been five years ago, and Micah (who is in P2), cried for a couple of days when I came home...

So now is the opportunity for many who asked for me to shave my beard, to put their money where their mouth was… and all for a worthy cause.

My two eldest children attend Melville Knox Christian School Glasgow (Parkhead Campus).

From August 2026 the school will need to move from their current campus.

A building in Sandyhills was purchased several years back, but significant funding is now needed to renovate the building so that it can be ready in time.

After a successful previous campaign to purchase the building (£100k in 100 days), the Board set out on the next part of the vision with an ambitious target of £150k in 150 days. Sadly, the days are running out and the funds have been slow to come in.

Any donations are very much appreciated.
