With a group of over 20 others, I will be venturing out on a strenuous 7/8-hour hike in the Swiss Alps covering a distance of 11 km on Saturday, 7th September (or the next day if the weather is poor).

Being the oldest (and perhaps least fit also?), I am relying on the team to get me up the first two-hour ascent to Glattwang and then along the ridge to Arflinafurgga Pass before we ascend the second peak, Mattishorn. Our reward on the day will be a team picnic at a picturesque spot by Unter-Clunersee Lake where we'll be able to reflect on this amazing challenge.

Our real reward will be to support the fundraising efforts of Skanda Vale Hospice - https://www.skandavalehospice.org/ - where I volunteer alongside over 100 amazing people from all walks of life. This wonderful and inspiring Hospice provides free care to those facing life-limiting illnesses. My goal is to raise at least £1,000 to help the hospice continue its invaluable work.
