Story
RNLI volunteer, Graeme Staddon, his wife Elinor, and son Toby, will be cycling 420 miles from Mudeford to Paris and back, raising funds for the Mudeford Lifeboat Station on the way.
Setting off from the Mudeford Lifeboat Funday on 16 July, they hope to reach Paris in three days, returning home on 21 July. The first day will see the adventurous trio cover 50 miles to Portsmouth where they will board the overnight ferry to Caen. Day two is a daunting 90 mile leg to Evreux, before the final 70 mile push to Paris. Then they have to do it all again in reverse! They only have themselves for support for the entire journey and will be wearing RNLI shirts all the way!
Excited, if not a little daunted by the trip ahead, Graeme, who recently qualified as a Launch Authority with the RNLI, said, “For me this trip is the best of both worlds. A stunning journey with my family through the UK and France countryside and the chance to raise money for a charity I deeply care about. Thank you everyone for all your support and encouragement.”
The family are hoping to raise at least £1000 for the Mudeford Lifeboat station which is manned completely by volunteers and is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
All donations are gratefully received and enable the station to continue its vital role, protecting the local community and saving lives at sea, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The RNLI rely on the safest, most reliable lifeboats and modern stations to launch from.
