Story
After being inspired by her Dad doing a variety of challenges for various charities, Megan decided she wanted to make a difference!
With the help of Dad she is going to take on the Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge. Conquering Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan. All within 24 hours!
She has been training hard for a few months even getting up super early before school to get "some extra miles in". She has done all this around school, dancing, being a Cub, and being a Young Carer for her Mum who suffers with Scoliosis.
When deciding on what charity to raise funds for she said " I want to help Mum not be in pain anymore" and so Scoliosis Support and Research was chosen very quickly.
Over 2 million people in the UK have Scoliosis which is the abnormal twisting and curvature of the spine and can affect people of any age, from babies to adults. Although many people have not heard of scoliosis, it is not rare. Out of every 1000 people, three to four need support from a scoliosis specialist. It can also affect people at different points in their lives. In most cases, the cause of Scoliosis is unknown and that is why research is so important!
Scoliosis Support and Research are a small charity who fund innovative research into all aspects of scoliosis. Their focus is quite simply to go BACK to Basics to identify a cause.
