Story
Moving Muscles for Marcus supports Duchenne UK, a charity that has one clear aim; to end Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).
DMD is a devastating muscle-wasting disease. It is the most common and severe form of muscular dystrophy. Diagnosed in childhood, it mainly affects boys. Started by families affected by the disease, Duchenne UK is the leading DMD charity in the UK: connecting the best researchers with industry, the NHS and families to advance and accelerate every stage of drug development.
Together, we will end Duchenne.
Two years ago, myself and Mr Mortimer decided to run 100km to raise money for Duchenne UK and Moving Muscles for Marcus. Two years on and I have decided to take on another ultramarathon challenge, this time running from London to Oxford following the Thames Path for 163km. The cut - off for this event is 28 hours!
Since signing up for the event in September, I have completed 2000km in training runs, including four marathons and two ultramarathons. I still have no idea if this distance is possible for me, however I couldn't think of a more deserving individual or charity for me to challenge myself for.
