Story
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is relentless. It infiltrates the nerves that normally pulse away in the background powering everyday life. It erodes this power. Symptoms vary making it hard to diagnose. Like a fire it can smoulder untill.....why is my grip week, why did I stumble, why is my voice differant? Its like a sadistic pupettier has userped the system, hellbent on showing it who's boss. And it will not stop. Yet as their bodies wither, sufferers are still their brilliant selves. To be brutal, they know what's going on. Why are some nerves uneffected? One of many questions. Despite brilliant research the hunt for a test, let alone treatment demands even more. This is expensive. Hence my challenge.
I'm a 62 and work as a gardener at Langdale Chase Hotel, check out gallery photos, which is on lake Windermere and at the foot of Wansfell. The perfect place for my challenge. So starting on 21 june will walk or run up Wansfell every day for a year. Will also do a few higher hills taking total ascent to approx 20 Everests. Not really a good comparison as won't need oxygen, just cake!
Thanks.
