I ran multiple events in 2023 for Prostate Cancer UK. Prostate cancer kills 1 in 8 men. That's one dad, partner, brother, son, grandad, uncle or mate. I'm raising money to help fund lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.

Once again in 2024 I will be running multiple events, I shall be focusing my training on running a full marathon, The London Marathon; it will be the 30th anniversary since I last ran the event. I am aiming to raise a total of £10,000!

Let me say right off the bat, that I owe massive amounts of eternal thanks, gratitude & Love, to the most Beautiful Soul & Spiritual Partner, Debra. For without her being by my side during our journey together I believe I would not have healed as I did. Make no mistake we healed together as a Team - Love You Gorgeous One - Panayiotis XX

I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer 22 November 2018 and the journey that followed has been one of gratitude, discovery, joy and friendship.

I have been very open about my diagnosis right from the start, as I knew that this moment was not only a time for me to heal but also share my experience so other men could avoid having to deal with prostate cancer.

My quest, whilst raising funds is hugely beneficial, is also to bring awareness and prevention to my family, friends and local community, that their health is important and that it should not be ignored. As men we are quick to book our cars with an engineer when we hear a strange new noise emanating from under the bonnet, but will ignore bodily symptoms, which may have persisted for six months!

I have been in remission since 18 November 2019 after radical radiotherapy treatment for 6 1/2 weeks at Charing Cross Hospital, London, to whom I am forever grateful for all the Angels who took great care of me. I was administered my final injection, as part of a three year course of treatment, on 19 July 2021, and that is the day I started running again! And since that day I haven't stopped running!

I ran my first running event, since my diagnosis, at the Ealing Half Marathon in September 2022.

I was inspired by Kevin Webber’s story of dealing with Prostate Cancer, how running has given him a new lease on Life. The key to his healing is movement. Whilst most of us can only dream of the achievements he has accomplished, I believe most of us can do some movement a few times a week, whether it’s walking, cycling, swimming or indeed running. With this in mind, I set-up a running group from the coffee house where I work. We are known as the Espresso Runners (Instagram @espresso_runners). It’s a great way to get some exercise, meet some new folk and share stories. We are more 5K to Coffee than Couch to 5K!

In May 2023 I was diagnosed with recurrence of prostate cancer and I had High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) surgery on 14 August 2023. On 10 September 2023 I completed my 4th half marathon of the year, running 10k and walking the last 11k with Debra, then on 24 September 2023 I ran/walked my 5th half marathon with my wonderful niece, Tiggy, and on my birthday on 08 October 2023 I ran my 6th and last half marathon of 2023, under 2:30hrs.

Anyhow, that’s me in a nutshell doing my best to bring Awareness, Prevention, Running & Love to our neighbourhood in Ealing and beyond.

I look forward to your support.

Love Panayiotis (Mountain Thunder) & Debra XX🌹
