Mothers with Altitude Mt Toubkal climb

Fundraising for Cancer Research UK
Welcome to the “Mothers with Altitude” Just Giving pages.
Dear family and friends,
We can not thank you enough for all your incredible support for our 2 charities, Papyrus UK and BowelBabe. The money you have donated will go directly to help both these incredible charities continue their vital work and services.
As you will be aware our Mt Toubkal climb was cancelled due to the devastating earthquake that happened in Morocco the night before we left. We are all heartbroken for the lives lost. Our incredible Moroccan ground team are helping to provide support to the local mountain communities impacted by the disaster.
We will continue to plan our Mt Toubkal climb, hopefully for 2024 to support a country that is mourning, recovering and moving forward.
We will set up a new ‘Mothers with Altitude’ fundraising page in due course to fundraise and support a local charity on the ground in Morocco. In the meantime, if you would like to donate to the Morocco earthquake appeal, we can recommend these reputable charities.

_____________________________________________________________________
We have collectively come together to raise funds for our charity hike through the Atlas Mountains to hopefully summit Mount Toubkal 4167m. Together. All 18 of us.
We have chosen two charities to split our fundraising equally between.
The first is Papyrus UK (Prevention Of Suicide in the UK). We all have teenage children and we know that mental health issues in children and young adults is rife, many of us experiencing this first hand. What’s alarming is that suicide is the biggest killer of those under the age of 35. We want to support this charity in the work that it does in the prevention of suicide, educating and supporting parents and removing the stigma surrounding suicide as well as supporting the mental wellbeing of these young individuals. Because no one should have to struggle on alone.
The second is the Bowelbabe Fund set up for the legend, Dame Deborah James. One of the members of Mother’s with Altitude, Anisha had bowel cancer in 2018. At that time of diagnosis, she was determined to still summit a mountain in Spain - Mount Mulhacen 3482m and with grit and determination she did so before embarking on surgery and chemotherapy. Fast forward nearly 5 years, and a shed load of scans, Anisha remains in remission. This year to mark 5 years, we go bigger and take all the post cancer ailments with us and a huge team to a higher summit (we hope!) .
Without research carried out by CRUK, Anisha wouldn’t have had the chemo after surgery which has helped her reach to hopefully (and nearly) 5 years cancer free. And so we want to share that privilege for anyone who is diagnosed in the future. For better treatments, earlier detection, better education, awareness and support. Because ultimately 1 in 2 of us will get cancer and caught early, most are treatable and curable
Please consider donating a few pounds to our charities of choice and we look forward to reporting back on our adventures.
Thanks so much.
