Thames Path & London Marathon
2024 is PSPA's 30th anniversary. To celebrate, Moth and I would like to give our generous supporters a little more to follow - by walking to London for the Marathon! Starting in Oxford, we'll follow 120 miles of the Thames Path, before being joined by Tom and Ethan to complete the Marathon at the end!! Loads to follow, so look out for April on Instagram and maybe we'll see you along the way. Ray x
If you've read The Salt Path or Landlines, you know Moth lives with Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD). As with the closely associated PSP, CBD is a progressive illness without treatment or cure. But Moth has defied the odds and since his diagnosis has gone on to walk the 630 miles of the South West Coast Path, a 1000 mile trail from the north of Scotland to the south coast of Cornwall and last year completed the London Marathon.
Many people who receive the same diagnosis as Moth aren’t as lucky. That's where the charity PSPA comes in - the only UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of people living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD). Providing information and support for people affected by PSP & CBD whilst funding vital research into the causes, treatment, and eventually a cure.
This year Ray and Moth will be joined by Dave and Julie (they've popped up in the books from the SWCP, to Iceland) to walk 120 miles of the Thames Path from Oxford to Westminster Bridge, before Dave and Julie put their feet up and Ray and Moth's son Tom (taking a break from his usual American Football) and Rowan's partner Ethan (the only real runner among them) join Team Moth to complete the London Marathon.
A big two weeks, but loads of opportunities to engage with the fundraising for PSPA, or just say hello along the way.
Follow their progress on Ray's instagram page - raynor.winn - and hopefully, with your support we can stop PSP and CBD in their tracks.
