Story
Mental health is a term used to describe a person’s condition with regard to their psychological and emotional well-being.
As we all know, mental health issues can affect everyone at somepoint in their life. It may seem like a long time ago now but the affects of lockdown were a major catalyst in peoples struggles with their mental health. With mental health conditions increasing to 25.7% amongst young adults and 1 in 6 people being diagnosed with deppression or anxiety.
We have decided, as 2 men who can experience the strain of mental health problems along with witnessing those around us go through their own struggles that it is time to do our part and help where we can!
We will be running the Newport Half Marathon but bellieve us when we say, this is only the beginning and we will be looking to complete more events throughout 2024.
Morgan-
We will be aiming to begin raising as much money as possible for a charity called 'MIND'. An amazing charity who provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Their services are an amazing help to me and have helped many people close to me. Mental health problems may always exist but that only means we must continue our efforts to support those struggling, something i am passionate about and committed to always doing!
Llewys (Brewer)-
This being the second half marathon i will be running, I wanted to run in aid of 'Mind' a charity that specialise in supporting people who suffer with mental health disorders across the UK. I have personally worked with Mind and their services were a massive help for me at a time where i had only recently opened up about my mental health struggles and reached out for help. I'm running Newport Half to not only raise funds for an important charity but to also spead awareness. If you are struggling reach out however you can for help because there is so much out there!
