The Entertainment Community Fund is a national human services organization that fosters stability and resiliency, and provides a safety net for performing arts and entertainment professionals over their lifespan.

Story

In support of our friends and family impacted by the work stoppage across the performing arts industry, The Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund) has provided upwards of 10x their patterned relief efforts to folks in need of emergency financial assistance. We're raising money to support their services, making sure our artists and their families are able to sustain their financial health as we continue to stand up for our creative rights.

More About the Entertainment Community Fund:

Since 1882, the Fund has sought to ensure stability, encourage resiliency and be a safety net for those who shape our country’s cultural vibrancy. The Fund provides emergency financial support for basic living expenses (rent, groceries, health insurance, medical bills, etc.), mental health support and more. As of October 12, the Fund has distributed more than $9.3 million to more than 4,300 film and TV workers.

Given the heightened rate of requests for emergency financial assistance due to the ongoing work stoppage, the Fund is distributing about $500,000-$600,000 per week (compared to an average of $75,000 per week in the first half of 2023).

Even with the resolution between the WGA and AMPTP, we still expect a significant increase of inquiries in the coming months given the continued SAG-AFTRA strike, *and even once work resumes* (we saw this in the last ‘07/’08 Writers Strike as well). We know the holiday season can be a difficult time of year for people regardless, and this will likely be compounded by the work stoppage as people continue to grapple with the ramifications.

In addition, due to the entertainment industry shutdown during the pandemic, people’s savings were depleted when they couldn’t work, and they haven’t yet had the time or work to recover/rebuild. Many are in extremely fragile situations, and were less able to plan for the work stoppage associated with the strikes.

That’s why our music video, “More Alive”, is raising money for the Entertainment Community Fund (Formerly The Actor’s Fund), to help provide our artists and their families with emergency financial support while they continue to stand up for their creative rights. Head over to YouTube to give, help spread the word, and enjoy “More Alive”.
