Event: The Nightingale Centre’s Mammary Walk, on 7 September 2024
Lisa Thomas has challenged her colleagues to take on a 'Mammary Walk'. 50 inflatable boobs will descend the streets of Manchester to raise funds for the National Breast Imaging Academy, getting more women to their mammograms, sooner.

Story

On Saturday 7th September, my partner and I will dress as “a giant pair of tits” and complete a 10k walk through the centre of Manchester. We’ll be joining colleagues from the Nightingale Breast Centre, creating a troupe of 50 giant boobs.

Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in the UK and breast services are struggling under unprecedented pressures.

Our aim is to raise awareness and funds to support Prevent Breast Cancer and the National Breast Imaging Academy. Our new Academy will be built in Manchester and (1) enable thousands of extra patients to be seen annually, (2) bolster the UK breast workforce by training specialists and (3) support research into breast cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Help us build to beat breast cancer.
