Story

In April 2025 I will be running The London Marathon to raise money for St Wilfrid's Hospice.

In January 2009, my dad was diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer and by October 2009 he had started home care with the Hospice. My dad stayed in the Hospice in December 2009 for a short period of time before being moved home and receiving home care again. In February 2010 he was then moved back into the Hospice where he stayed for 5 weeks before he passed away. The care St Wilfrid’s Hospice gave not only my dad but my entire family was exceptional. The Hospice staff went above and beyond to help me and my family make memories with my dad, from simple things like being able to see him every day after school and having dinner with him most evenings to making him a cake on his birthday and organising a way to get him home so he could have his favourite take away with us. Being only 6 at the time, it should’ve been a scary experience but the Hospice never made it feel like that. I will forever be grateful for the support they gave us.

St Wilfrid’s Hospice offer free care to patients and their families. They rely on fundraising for 70% of their income. This will be a massive challenge for me but I want other families to benefit from the amazing care at St Wilfrid’s Hospice the same way me and my family did.
