Race to the King
Myself and my two brothers are running the 'Race to the King' ultra marathon on the 15th of June, raising money for Bookmark.
Why Bookmark
My fondest memories are of making up worlds with sticks on dog walks and being read to as a child. ‘The Wind in the Willows’ was top of the list, inspiring the name of our home. Of all the characters we came to love, Mole was my favourite - in his smart little suit.
Growing up around books was the greatest gift I could have ever received and although 'Triangulated' is a series primarily aimed at adults, its source is rooted in the world of imagination that being read to brought out of me. On
I am not planning to charge for the initial publication of this series so if you enjoy reading them, I would encourage you to donate to my chosen charity, Bookmark, so that more children can experience the joy that reading can bring, as well as many other incredibly important benefits.
About Bookmark
Before the pandemic, more than one in four children left primary school unable to read well. Now, disadvantaged children are leaving school an entire year behind their non-disadvantaged peers.
Poor literacy can have a devastating impact on a child's life. They're more likely to be unemployed, live in poverty, have poor health and health behaviours, and lower life expectancy as a result.
Bookmark wants every child to develop the reading skills, confidence and enjoyment of reading that they need for a fair chance in life.
