Our Team, Quines oot for a Dander, are fundraising for Haemochromatosis UK as our family is affected by this genetic disorder.

Haemochromatosis is a genetic disorder which causes too much iron to build up in the body and if left untreated can cause complications including diabetes, cancer, heart & liver disease.

It is often called the 'Celtic Curse' as it is common in the North East of Scotland but often goes undiagnosed as not many people are aware of it, including some Doctors. It can easily be diagnosed with a blood test.

This disorder directly affects our family as my sister’s husband, Gordon and her son and daughter Lewis and Emma have it, as well as my sister’s brother in law, Brian. Luckily, this has been found early as Gordon and Brian's mum had it which prompted testing and steps can be taken to lower the iron in the body.

We hope our fundraising will raise awareness of the disorder and go to assist families affected by it.
