Story
A devastating earthquake of 6.8 magnitude has struck Morocco, killing over 2000 people and injuring hundreds more.
The quake has been the most powerful in the region for over a century. Whole towns and villages have been turned to dust, and countless homes have become graves.
Many of the dead are thought to be in remote villages in the High Atlas mountains, the epicenter of the earthquake. The epicentre was in the High Atlas Mountains, 71km (44 miles) south-west of Marrakesh, at a depth of 18.5km. The earthquake killed people in the provinces and municipalities of al-Haouz, Marrakesh, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Chichaoua and Taroudant.
We are partnering with Marrakech Mansions, who have a team on the ground to provide urgent relief and support. Your donations will make a difference in this time of crisis.
Marthad ibn Abdullah reported: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said,
“The shade of the believer on the Day of Resurrection is his charity.”
