JOIN CHATHAM EDUCATION FOUNDATION FOR A SAFE RETURN TO SCHOOL!
The School District of the Chathams has incurred over $1,000,000 in costs and reductions in revenues due to COVID-19. Given New Jerseys current financial situation, the Board of Education has stated that $3.5M of state aid will likely be significantly reduced, and it is already forgoing planned technology upgrades, but that only covers some of the shortfall. If the financial hits were directed only toward teachers, it would be the equivalent to staff reductions of up to 75 entry level teachers.
As one of the most efficient, high performing school districts, Chatham is more vulnerable to state aid cuts than others.
Funding from Chatham Education Foundation is critical to supplement tax funding to meet programming needs.
