Story

On Saturday 14 September 2024 our team 'MND Over Matter' will be taking on a 50km challenge along the Thames Path to raise awareness and much needed funds for the amazing work done by the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

MND is a rapidly progressive neurodegenerative disease which leads to the weakness and wasting of muscles that causes the increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. This currently incurable disease affects 5,000 adults and kills six people per day in the UK (www.mndassociation.org/about-mnd).

We are a team standing shoulder to shoulder to support our very close friend (and for some, family member) Dave Young who received his own diagnosis in May 2022. Dave's battle with this disease brings into stark focus how the services provided by MNDA are much needed and valued. There are 20 of us (possibly more joining!) undertaking this 50km challenge, 19 on foot and Dave riding alongside us the entire way on a trike (purchased with funds supplied by Challenge MND). As the saying goes, 'Where there's a will, there's a way', and we intend on completing the distance with all of us crossing the line together.

Please donate whatever you can through JustGiving - it's simple, fast and secure - and they'll send your money directly to MNDA.

Thank you - it means a lot.
